Optometrist Near Moorooka — Clear, Upfront Pricing

A welcoming, independent optometrist a short drive east of Moorooka — where the cost of your eye test is never a mystery. We publish our fees in full, bulk bill all children under 18, and offer a reduced fee for pension card holders.

A welcoming local practice, minutes away

Moorooka is one of Brisbane's most diverse and down-to-earth suburbs, and our clinic on Logan Road is only a short drive east — an easy trip from around the train station, Beaudesert Road or the Magic Mile. Everyone is welcome, and we take the time to make sure you understand your eyes and your options.

Clear pricing, no surprises

Most practices make you ring up to find out what an eye test costs. We do the opposite: our full fee schedule is published on the site, so you can see exactly what you will pay before you book. A comprehensive examination, the Medicare rebate, and your out-of-pocket are all set out plainly.

Your Medicare rebate is processed on the day through our HICAPS terminal — most patients have it back almost instantly. Every child under 18 is bulk billed, and pension card holders pay a reduced consultation fee. It is eye care you can budget for with confidence.

Thorough eye tests for the whole family

Transparent fees do not mean a quick, cut-corners exam — quite the reverse. Every comprehensive eye examination runs a full 45 to 60 minutes and includes screening for glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. We also fit contact lenses, treat dry eye, and look after children of every age.

See our full eye test cost and Medicare rebates page for the complete fee breakdown.

Common questions

The fees section on this page shows the full breakdown — fee, Medicare rebate, and out-of-pocket cost — for each consultation type. Most patients receive a $67.85 rebate for a comprehensive eye examination and $34.00 for a subsequent consultation. Rebates are processed on the day via our HICAPS terminal — most patients receive their rebate instantly, though it can take up to 24 hours.

We bulk bill all children under 18. Pension Card holders are eligible for a reduced consultation fee — $85 for a comprehensive eye examination (normally $100) and $51 for a subsequent or brief consultation (normally $60). For all other patients, we are a private billing practice: a professional fee applies and your Medicare rebate is processed on the day via our HICAPS terminal.

A comprehensive eye examination at Holland Park Eyecare is allocated 45–60 minutes. This is significantly longer than a standard appointment, and intentionally so. We use that time to conduct thorough testing, explain what we find, answer your questions, and discuss any eyewear or treatment options — without any rush.

No referral is needed to see an optometrist. You can book directly with us. If during your examination we identify something that requires specialist ophthalmology care, we will refer you appropriately and provide a detailed clinical summary for the specialist.
